Overview
The Elder is the second boss, fought in the Black Forest. Summon it at a runestone circle using ancient seeds. Defeating it drops the swamp key, which opens the way to the Swamp, and the Elder trophy, whose forsaken power speeds up tree felling.
Strategy
You fight The Elder second, in the Black Forest. Bring three ancient seeds to the runestone circle and offer them to start the fight. It has 2500 health.
- Before the fight: The Elder is a ranged fight for most players. Clear the ground around the summoning circle of trees and rocks so nothing blocks your shots or your retreat. A workbench and a portal nearby are worth the time.
- During the fight: Keep your distance and keep moving. The Black Forest terrain is uneven, and the pillars and trees around the altar will block your arrows as often as they block the boss. Use the open ground you cleared.
- What kills people: Running out of arrows while the boss still has health, and getting cornered against a tree or boulder. The fight is a marathon, not a burst.
Drops the swamp key, which you need to enter the Swamp biome and progress past the Black Forest, and the elder trophy. Taking the trophy activates the forsaken power Faster tree felling, which speeds up woodcutting for a while afterward.
The data here does not cover its attack patterns or weaknesses. If you have fought The Elder before, you know what to watch for; if not, go in with a full quiver and room to move.
Preparation
- Confirm you have the summoning offering — the ancient seeds — before you travel.
- Locate the Runestone circle in the Black Forest. Clear nearby Greydwarf spawns before you summon.
- Build a portal nearby and mark the circle on your map. A death mid-fight is recoverable only if you can get back fast.
- Bring your best available gear, food, and potions. The Elder has 2500 health and punishes a rushed approach.
- Use the terrain. The standing stones and surrounding trees block projectiles; keep one between you and the boss during its ranged attacks.
- Keep moving. The Elder's melee swings are slow but wide, and its root attack pins you in place — break line of sight to cancel it.
- After the fight, collect the swamp key and the elder trophy. The trophy unlocks the Forsaken power for faster tree felling.
- Do not linger. The Black Forest respawns quickly, and the circle is a common spawn point for Greydwarf raids.
